Accomplishments
Val DiGiorgio has served as our County Controller since 2006. During that time, Val and his staff have had one overriding goal, to work hard for Chester County taxpayers.
During Val's term in office, the Office of Controller has achieved a solid record of protecting taxpayers and making government more open. The Controller's Office has made our County government:
More Open by developing an annual summary of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. We have delivered hundreds of summaries to citizens, local governments and others around the County in an effort to provide easy to read summaries of our County's use of your tax dollars. (Annual summaries

More Accountable and efficient by instituting performance audits to make sure County departments are using their staff and resources efficiently. Val expanded the Controller's Office expanded its normal audit duties to include a review of the operations and efficiencies of County departments that have never seen an audit. Val's reports have suggested changes in County Government that could save taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars per year. (Audits

More Efficient by instituting new payment processes for paying vendors that will earn the County hundreds of thousands of dollars in rebates each year.
More Open and accountable by establishing a FRAUD HOTLINE to allow employees, vendors and others the opportunity to report fraud and waste to the Controller as the County’s fiscal watchdog. (Fraud, Waste, and Abuse webpage:

More Efficient by streamlining the accounts payable process and implementing new procedures for paying vendors and employees by wire transfers and direct deposits.
And, best of all, Val has done all this and more with 10% fewer staff and a lower expenditures then when he took office in 2006. Simply put, under Val's leadership the Controller's Office is doing more with less and saving taxpayer dollars!
