Fighting For You!

As Controller, Val and his staff work every day with one goal in mind - fighting for taxpayers. Val believes that government must be open, honest and accountable to its citizens. Val understands that it is your hard-earned dollars money that fund government.

Val believes that government at every level must do more with less. The Controller's Office operates with a lower budget and fewer staff then when Val took office in 2006.

Val fulfilled his role as a taxpayer advocate at last year's budget hearings by suggesting a menu of options to reduce taxes. Val argued that during these times of economic uncertainty - when some taxpayers are losing their jobs and their homes - government must look for additional ways to cut government costs and keep the burden of taxes as low as possible.
